What: Carillon Park Adventure Day Hit the Trail! for Woodlands Trail members and their families.
When: Mar 11, 9:30am - 12:30pm
Schedule:
9:30 - Arrival and Check-in
10:00 - Dayton History and Aviation Science Adventure!
Discover how the past has shaped our present and will continue to inspire the future. We'll experience 4-D animatronics in the “Build for Tomorrow” theater and learn the story of Dayton as it is told by a cast of five prominent and famous Daytonians: John H. Patterson, Orville and Wilbur Wright, Charles F. Kettering, and Colonel Edward A. Deeds.
Experience the history and science of lighter-than air flight! Before the Wright brothers launched the first heavier-than-air flight, the skies were not just for the birds. Make and experience your own lighter-than-air craft including kites and the flying bat toy. Test your designs in a lighter-than-air show, and weather permitting, witness a hot-air balloon launch demonstration!
Explore the many chapters of transportation history—from our nation’s rail history to Ohio’s pioneer history to Dayton’s unique spot in claiming the oldest, continuously-operating, electrically-propelled public transit system. Designed to resemble both a train station and a roundhouse, the Carillon Historical Park’s James F. Dicke Family Transportation Center houses many of Carillon Historical Park’s original artifacts, all open for walking through!
12:00 - Sack lunch in the park
12:30 - Dismissal. Continue to explore the park as a family (your tickets are good all day) or depart for other activities.
