* Cotton remains wet when it gets cold, which presents an added risk of hypothermia in high altitude or cold environments. However, there are circumstances that warrant cotton clothing. See this post from National Outdoor Leadership School for more information.

Fire

• Fire starter kit (if Fireguard or Fire Ranger)

Tools (apart from a daypack, these items are not required for most troop camping events)

• 50’ light rope
